General clinic information
Devon Sexual Health has three main clinics:
Devon Sexual Health – Barnstaple
First Floor, Barnstaple Health Centre, Vicarage St, Barnstaple EX32 7BH
Devon Sexual Health – Exeter
Walk-in Centre, 31 Sidwell St, Exeter EX4 6NN
Devon Sexual Health – Torquay
Castle Circus Health Centre, Abbey Rd, Torquay TQ2 5YH
These clinics are all appointment-only clinics. To check current opening times you can use our ‘find a service’ feature.
To make an appointment, you can:
- Call 0300 303 3989 – please note you may be booked onto a triage list and a member of our team will call you back as soon as possible
- Visit our reception desks
- Book appointments online. This service is currently available for our Exeter and Barnstaple clinics only. You must first register for a Personal Health Record (PHR). Click here for more information.
- Some patients may be invited in to visit the clinic to see a nurse or doctor face to face, or perhaps to come and collect pills or medication. We can also post some things to a home (or friend’s) address, if needed.
- Sexual health services are free for UK nationals and migrant patients
Drop-in clinics
In addition to our general appointment-only clinic services, we offer young person only drop-in clinics:
Under 18s
Castle Circus Health Centre, Abbey Road, Torquay – Tuesdays 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Devon Sexual Health, NHS Walk-in Centre, 31 Sidwell Street, Exeter – Tuesdays 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Under 21s
First Floor, Barnstaple Health Centre, Vicarage Street, Barnstaple – Wednesdays 3.30pm – 5.00pm
As these are drop-in clinics, it may be a while before you are seen, so please be prepared to wait.

Community clinics
In addition to our main clinics in Barnstaple, Exeter and Torquay, other community sexual health clinics are available:
- Holsworthy Community Hospital, Dobles Lane, Holsworthy – once a month
- Tiverton & District Hospital, Kennedy Way, Tiverton, every Wednesday with appointments available from 1.00pm– 7.00pm
- Brixham Community Hospital, Greenswood, Brixham – every Friday from 9.30 – 12.00pm – contraception only. PLEASE NOTE: due to extensive roadworks between Paignton and Brixham causing long delays for both staff and patients, this clinic is temporarily closed.
- Bideford Community Hospital, Abbotsham Road – every Tuesday from 1.30 – 4.00pm
- Ilfracombe Tyrrell Hospital, St Brannocks Road – every Monday from 10.00 – 4.oopm
Please note: all community clinics are appointment-only. Walk-in visitors will not be able to be seen.
